this weekend, rick’s aunt and uncle visited from virginia. we had such a great time together. we did all sorts of fun things, and the kids and pets all took to ann and john really fast. we can’t wait to visit them at their house next! here’s a recap of the weekend’s events…
friday: oakridge toys and hobbies, all aboard diner
uncle john and toby bond instantly over their mutual love of trains.
simon introduces aunt ann to his beloved “good night, gorilla” at bedtime.
saturday: joy yee noodle shop (chinatown), museum of science and industry
aunt ann marvels at what a great eater simon is (particularly when it comes to asian food!).
at the museum of science and industry, toby and uncle john pose in front of a train (what else?).
uncle john turns a discarded plastic bag into pure fun.
sunday: target portrait studio, the clubhouse, riverside fourth of july opening ceremonies and concert
no, my kids aren’t smurfs. they just like a good cotton candy.
monday: riverside independence day parade and festivities, train rides to and from union station, water taxi to the tribune building, romp through millennium park, visit to the art institute, backyard fun with “snakes” and sparklers
